Poker is a popular game enjoyed worldwide. It involves betting, bluffing and predicting other players’ hands. The object of the game is to have the best poker hand and win a pot.
The game is played from a standard 52-card deck (or multiple packs) of cards. There are four suits – spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. No suit is higher than another.
Card rank is important for determining a winning poker hand. The Ace can be high or low, and there are jokers that can take on any suit.
If there are two or more players with a matching pair of cards, the highest card wins. If there are no pairs, the game goes to the river.
The dealer deals the first three cards, and everyone gets a chance to bet/check/raise/fold. The next card is called the flop.
Once the flop is dealt, each player receives another card called the turn. This is a free card that they can use to improve their hand.
The final card is the river. This is the final betting round. The dealer puts a fifth card on the board, and once again, everyone can use it to improve their hand.
